 SURVEYING AND CADASTRE PROGRAM

I. THE PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM

The Surveying and Cadastre Engineering discipline is a science which specifies the most convenient geometry or the shape of the earth, establishes geometric, numeric and meaningful relations between all items on the earth and shares the proven information with the other engineering fields, science and arts to use. From this perspective, the Surveying and Cadastre Technicians unit is the interval service unit which carries the technical works, takes the responsibility and authorization. The purpose of the Surveying and Cadastre Program is to bring up informed, qualified and experienced Surveying and Cadastre Technicians in line with the technological improvements.

II. WORKING AREAS OF THE GRADUATES

  • Infrastructure services (drinking water, wastewater, rain water, electric, telecommunication, natural gas…etc.),
  • Transportation,
  • Reconstruction Applications,
  • Construction Inspection Applications,
  • Urban Information System Applications,
  • The application of basic engineering services such as Land and field Arrangements (3194 numbered Reconstruction Act…etc.) ,
  • Updating Cadastre and ready to use basic surveying studies,
  • The specification of time dependent displacements (the specification of earth crust and earthquake movements)
  • Keeping the Information based on location and ownership in a Geographic Information System assisted data base, processing and evaluating,
  • Improving the Disaster Management Systems

III. TECHNICAL BACKGROUND AND LABORATORIES

The Surveying and Cadastre Program has a computer laboratory with 35 computers, a scanner and printer, measurement equipment laboratory which is used in surveying applications, being in contemporary norms, has sufficient quality and quantity measurement equipment inventory (GPS equipments, total station equipment, miters, electronic and mechanic leveling instruments.

IV. JOB OPPORTUNITIES

The students get the title of Surveying and Cadastre Technicians. They may work in the private contactorship offices and firms serving surveying and civil sectors beside the Ministry of Public Works and other ministries, the directorship of the municipality's reconstruction, technical services, infrastructure, the Directorship of Surveying and Cadastre, İSKİ, İGDAŞ, İZGAZ,…etc. , BİT, TEAŞ, Electric Works Etude Department, Land Office, Bank of Provinces, DSİ, ETİBANK, Rural Services, TKİ, T.C. Highway and State Railways.

VII. REQUIREMENTS TO BE ABLE TO GRADUATE FROM THE PROGRAM

The students who register to the Surveying and Cadastre Program should take 120 AKTS credits at least with 20-days training at the end of the 2nd and 4th semester, in total 40-day summer training based on practice in order to graduate from this department successfully.
